So I had a fairly relaxed Hogmany. Attended a concert at the Concert Hall and then home for the bells with family.

I had forgotten that I had bought some hair extensions so decided to try them out this evening. They are quite a good match with the rest of my hair although not a lot longer in length. The effect is more about biggar hair than longer locks!

Day 355: Autumn/Winter 2011 trend challenge - Jewel tones

I am returning to my Vogue challenge to create all their key Autumn/Winter 2011 trends from the clothes I already have in my wardrobe, since I'm banned from shopping. Today's look is all about jewel tones.

This look is all about sumptious colours and fabrics and I have chosen the amthyst hue.

I do love this dress but finding new ways to wear it has been challenging. I would normally have gone for a contrasting colour of tights but the challenge gave me the chance try out the look.

I think in the case of Lori's Wardrobe versus jewel tones that  this season's trend can be created without a visit to the High Street.

Day 350: Happy Christmas

Happy Christmas, everybody. Hope you all had as lovely a day as me with pressies, fantastic food and mucho vino which is probably why this piccie is a bit blury...hic!

Day 346: Braw britches

I am yet again rocking the top knot. These jeggings are now to big for me round the front and it wasn't until I saw this image that I realised they now look like an old fashioned pair of britches - they gotta go!

Day 345: Uggs are for mugs

Actually they are not, I love my ugly beautiful Ugg boots but I have barely worn them this year. They seemed just the thing to go with a lazy day.

Day 344: Gym and shopping

Had another gym session today and then did a bit more Christmas shopping and I'm nearly getting there which is good progress.

Day 343: Top knot(ch)

I have been meaning to try the blogger's top knot for some time and as my hair is now long enough I gave it a go today. I recently bought one of those donuts to create the perfect bun and since my hair is quite fine it has created a pretty massive specimen! 

Day 342: Startling with a slump

This is the first day of my Christmas holiday with a lovely long break of three weeks lying ahead. It seems a pity to spend the day in a lazy heap however, not making it home until after 3am from my work Chirstmas party means I have noone to blame but myself.

Day 340: Keen green

I have certainly been getting some mileage out of this dress and am determined to make the options for styling stretch as far as possible.

Day 339: Winter revamp

I have only worn this shirt dress a couple of times and both occasions were in the summer. I thought this dress was only for summer with the light fabric and short sleeves. However, this morning I decided to try it out with a winter edge and by gum it worked! AND, did you notice the belt? I swapped the matching belt for this elasticated one. My now rather less round midriff managed to let the belt do what it was born to do and flatter the look rather than turn it in to a lumpy bumpy mess. The only problem is that the dress is now much too large so it will need to go or be taken in! Not such a bad problem to have really.

Day 338: Running update

Well my training regime is now all about straight runs with no intervals and I must confess I am finding it a struggle. Today I just did not manage to complete the full time without having to walk for a bit and I felt really disappointed. I am putting a lot of pressure on myself as I want to be able to run the full 5k come race day and fear I am not on track to do that. Still, I need to remember where I started and not try to er, run before I can walk?

Day 337: Access to accessories

I rolled out my current favourite dress again today and challenged with having to style it differently the accessories went a bit into overdrive. In saying that I loved the look and it was perfect for a meeting I had up at the Museum first thing in the morning.

Had a quiet Saturday today with a visit to the gym (gotta keep on running) and then chores and chilling out.

Day 335: Skirts are for Saturday

I don't often wear skirts at the weekend however thought I would give one a whirl today with the cosy skirt and statement necklace.

Day 334: Fair isle fancy

This is really too casual a look for a day at work however it is a Friday and the boots are pretty smart so I just about got away with it.

As I have still been window shopping I am aware of just how much the fair isle pattern features this season. It is a good job that I already have a number of items in my wardrobe which include this trend. Just goes to show a trip to the shops to stock up on a key season look is not always required.

Day 333: Orange hues

I got some compliments on this scarf today as it is a striking colour and the tassles give it a distinctive shape. In saying that, I am not convinced by the look as I think it looks like I am trying too hard to tone everything in. Sometimes less matchy matchy leads to more more!

I wasn't aware of just how frumpy a look this when I put the outfit together this morning. It wasn't until the end of the day when I took the photograph that I realised it was more dowdy than cute and preppy. I think it may have worked with a narrower and slightly shorter skirt. You win some you lose some.

I definitely would feel at home on the range in this get up. I love the colour of the skirt and the material as it looks like it is suede, although isn't. However, it is an odd shape as is lower at the back than the front. Maybe if I get more proficient at sewing I will have the confidence to try and even it up so it looks more current.

We had one of our big quarterly meetings at work today so a smarter look is generally called for. This outfit is comfy, simple and quite elegant and I think did the job just fine.
