Day 190: Biking it

Today was the first day I was able to get out on my bike as I took my cousin to see the new Harry Potter film yesterday as part of her birthday treat. Although they say you never forget how to ride a bike I must confess I was a tad shaky. I have cycled once since childhood and it took a little getting used to being back in the saddle. I stuck to the canal towpath which is flat but pretty busy with pedestrians, dog walkers, loose dogs and cyclists so there were plenty of obstacles to manoeuvre around. By the time I had gone a couple of miles I was exhausted from concentrating, balancing and gripping on for dear life. Luckily a friend lives by the canal so I popped in for a break and a cup of tea which gave me the energy for the trip home. It wasn't the most impressive of starts and despite the painful derriere it was fun and I can't wait to get back out there.

    1. Ha, this makes me wonder how I would do on a bicycle. We have a tandem bike, which usually means that my husband does all the work and I just ride along behind.
