Day 189: Spring/Summer 2011 trend challenge - Accessories

As part of my Vogue challenge to create all their key Spring/Summer 2011 trends from the clothes I already have in my wardrobe, since I'm banned from shopping, today I am featuring accessories.

                • LST: Matalan
                • Navy cardi: M&S
                • Jeans: Gap
                • Wedges: Clarks
                • Necklace: Primark

I love accessories, bags, shoes and jewelley. I own a huge amount of all three and when it comes to jewellery I actually tend to favour costume jewellery to more precious trinkets. For many years I have been storing my collection in a hat box but I struggle to see what I have and despite many efforts it all ends up tangled together. This means I often don't take the time to accessorise my outfits properly as there is no time to unravel the knot of jewellery in the morning. I have been searching for the ideal solution and for a while now I have had serious envy of Allie of Wardrobe Oxygen's Jewellery Armoire however, I am not quite ready for that level of expense. I also fell in love with the oh so cute shelf in B Jones Bedroom but as it is thrifted it is one of a kind and I haven't found anything which comes close. That is until I found this little shelf come rack in a beach themed shop in North Berwick with the pretty blue bird detail. I do wish I had taken a picture of it before I loaded it up with jewellery so you could see it and maybe one day if I am having a sort out I will. It has two shelves for rings and bracelets, hooks along the bottom and lots of hoops to hang my necklaces on. My jewellery is no longer tangled and it is there displayed for me to see and pick from easily in the morning. I will have to do a bit of rotation now and again so I don't overlook the items on the bottom and I still have some items knotted in the box to sort out.

I think I have proven in the case of Lori's wardrobe versus accessories that this season's trend can be created without a visit to the High Street.
